Films de L'Orient

Films de l’Orient was born at the end of 1994. Josep Maria Forn, having 60% of stocks becomes the majority partner and is appointed to give the necessary strength to the company.

In 1995 and 1996, Films de l’Orient co-produces with Sogedasa and Els Quatre Gats the long feature Un cos al bosc (Joaquim Jordà). In 1998, Films de l’Orient and Sogedasa co-produce a new long feature: Subjúdice (Josep Maria Forn), awarded in the first Festival de Cinema Espanyol de Màlaga. Then, the film is shown in different international film festivals as Montpellier, Brussels, Louxemburg, San Juan Cinemafest de Puerto Rico, Perpignan or Beziers. It is also chosen as the opening film in the Biennal de Cinema Espanyol d’Annecy, Dijon... and also receives a good audience answer.

During 1999 and 2000, the company works in some cinema and TV projects, among them El torn d’Stanley, Amigas and Un dia, una nit (Enric Alberich, 2001). The later is chosen by Televisió de Catalunya in its yearly longfeature TV contest.

In 2001, Films de l’Orient co-produces with Diafragma P.C., Els Quatre Gats and Producciones Cinematográficas del Mediterraneo the longfeature La casita blanca (Carles Balagué), Premi Ciutat de Barcelona (Barcelona City Prize) that participates in Time of History section in Valladolid and then in the Semana de Cinema Español, Spanish Cinema Now, at the Film Society of Lincoln Center (New York).

From 2004, Films de l’Orient works in the longfeature El Coronel Macià, directed by Josep Maria Forn.
